The Friends
The Friends provides links between home and school and is a great way to bring staff, parents, carers and the community together to support the school. We welcome and encourage all members of the school community to get involved with fundraising.
Charitable Status
As a charity we must abide by Charity Commission rules and regulations and we are bound by a governing document referred to as our “constitution”. Our constitution sets out the rules about how we operate and how we conduct ourselves financially. Our Charity number is 1130839.
Role of the Committee
The Friends' committee currently consists of: Chair or Co-Chairs, Treasurer and Secretary, and then volunteer committee members. The committee meets on a regular basis to plan activities and events. Funds raised
During the past few years, The Friends has raised funds to provide a new playground and equipment, new laptops, supported PGL trips and visits to the theatre, to name a few.
Highlights of our annual events includes:
- 365km Challenge - February
- Fireworks night - November
- Breakfast with Santa - December
- Ice cream Fridays - May/June
- Sports day cream teas - June
The rest of the year is packed full of fun fundraisers such as discos, raffles, cake sales, movie nights, stay and plays, Rags2Riches and daffodil planting.
We provide a nearly new uniform service, where good quality uniform can be purchased for £1. Other ways we raise funds for our school is by applying for local grants and asking our parents to sign up to the easy fundraising scheme, where online purchases give our charity a percentage of the sale.
The funds raised by The Friends really do make a difference to our school and our children’s learning experiences. Not to mention the sense of achievement the Dunnington Family feels from working together to succeed.
